Call for the Law and Tech Career Day Organising Committee


In today’s tech driven society, questions of how the new technologies are regulated are increasingly important and expertise in this field is needed. The Law and Tech Career Day takes place online in April 2021 and its purpose is to help students find out the career opportunities within the field of law and technology by participating at lectures, Q&As and interactive workshops given by representatives from various governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations, law firms and more. 

Available positions: 

Organizers are needed for different tasks between February and April 2021. The Organising Committee (OC) consists of 6 OC members, focusing on:

🔸Promotion: planning and communicating with marketing on designing visuals and event promotion (1 position)

🔸Speakers and communication: find and contact potential speakers and communicate with them (3 positions) 

🔸Organisation and participant management: practical arrangements and support (to speakers and participants) before and during the event, communicating with participants and creating the timetables (2 positions)

Join a motivated team of law students, work on an interesting topic and enhance your CV with this project! OC members get free access to the ELSA Law and Tech Career Day. As a part of the OC, you will be provided with a certificate for your experience and contributions. 

We are looking for committed and motivated students with good time-management skills and good communication skills in English. ELSA members will have priority in selection.

Director for Market Research

As the Director for Marketing Translation of ELSA the Netherlands, you will be responsible for coordinating the ELSA international market research survey campaign. You tasks will include creating small actions and materials that could encourage ELSA members and outsiders from the Netherlands to contribute to the international data-gathering. The survey closes in April, hence, your work would most likely finish then. Possibly, after that time, we could develop national market research campaigns to gather Dutch-focused human resource information.

Skill requirements: Communication, organization, creativity, open-mindess.

Language requirements: English, minimum at the B2 level.

Assistant for External Relations

As the Assistant for External Relations under the VP Marketing of ELSA the Netherlands, you will support the VP with the search for marketing parters. Those are important, as they allow for expanding our network, reaching new people, but also may create opportunities for financial and academic cooperations. You will help develop acquisition strategies and establish long-term relationships with various companies, bodies, etc.

Skill requirements: Communication, organization, persuasion, negotiation, creativity, open-mindess.

Language requirements: English, minimum at the B2 level. Dutch is a strong plus.

Director for Marketing Translation

As the Director for Marketing Translation of ELSA the Netherlands, you will be in charge of translating most of the materials we publish on our social media platforms and the website. Even though, most of our activities are in English, we believe that it is important to uphold the identity of our national group, by preserving its language in our communications, but also to ensure that all the law students in the Netherlands can be sufficiently informed about our work and initiatives. For that, we need a translator, from English to Dutch.

Skill requirements: Organization, time-management, good writing skills.

Language requirements: Dutch, at the very least, at the C1 level. English, minimum at the B2 level.

Director for STEP

As the Director for STEP for ELSA the Netherlands, you will be working to gain partnerships for traineeships with law firms or other institutions for STEP. Your task would be to approach law firms or institutions for traineeships and verify the law firms approached by local groups. You will also be matching the applications with the STEP traineeship providers and providing assistance to trainees coming to the Netherlands from abroad.

Skill requirements: Communication, organization, persuasion, good writing skills.

Language requirements: English, minimum at the B2 level. A Dutch-speaking candidate would be preferred.

ELSA Webinar Academy: Benelux on Space Law

The Benelux Conference is a yearly event co-organised by three national groups of the European Law Students’ Association : ELSA Belgium, ELSA The Netherlands and ELSA Luxembourg.

This year the topic of the conference will be Space law. Space law can be defined as the body of international law governing space-related conducts and activities.
It adresses a variety of matters such as the preservation of space and Earth environment, liability for damages caused by space objects, the use of space-related technologies and of course international cooperation.
Due to the current situation, the Conference will be held online, from the 5th to the 12th of December.
Participants will have the opportunity to attend online lectures given by various profesionals specialized in the topic of Space law.

After the Conference, all participants will receive a certificate of participation.
