WHAT IS A LEGAL RESEARCH GROUP?
Legal Research Groups (LRGs) form a part of ELSA’s many academic projects. An LRG consists of groups of students and/or lawyers who carry out research on a specified field of law with an aim to making their conclusions publicly and internationally accessible.
WHY PARTICIPATE?
- Put your skills to the test: Legal research goes hand in hand with the development of research skills, legal writing skills and teamwork skills.
- Network: LRGs provide the opportunity to work with experts from certain fields of law & facilitate cooperation between students/young lawyers who have similar goals and interests.
- Get recognised & published: You will be part of a valid legal publication, get recognised in a professional environment, and be awarded with a Certificate of Participation.
WHAT IS A LAW REVIEW?
Law Reviews are periodical legal publications consisting of contributions from students, practitioners and academics. Two key elements of a Law Review are:
- Peer-Review Process: All published work is reviewed by experts in the legal field which corresponds to the topic of the Law Review
- Editorial Process: Contributions are assessed for compliance with established technical and linguistic guidelines by a team of editors ensuring qualitative cohesion and a high standard publication.
WHY PARTICIPATE?
- Get published: Publishing credit enhances both your academic and professional profile. Getting published as a student/young lawyer can be hard but getting published by one of ELSA’s Law Reviews is a great way to gain experience.
- Expand your skill-set: Contribute to your future career by expanding your legal knowledge and developing practical research and writing skills.
