What is it?
The NMCC is a moot court competition on European Union Law. It takes place in two stages: first, teams will plead in local rounds held by the respective local ELSA group at their university. Furthermore, they will submit a written submission. The winners of all local rounds will proceed to the final round, hosted by ELSA the Netherlands. Here, they will have the chance to compete against the other local winners.
This year’s compeititon will revolve around EU competition law.
Why participate?
It goes without saying that moot courts are a fantastic way to improve your legal skills and practice pleading a case before a panel. Beyond this, however, the NMCC enables you to meet law students from around the country, to network with peers and professionals, and to become part of ELSA’s international community. Furthermore, this competition provides you with a unique way to prepare for large international competitions and allows you important insights into the world of mooting.

To participate, you sign up with your local ELSA groups. You can find more information regarding the local rounds on our website, the website of our local groups, or by approaching the officers of your local group.

The National Round will take place on 27th of January 2023. It will be an in person competition.
Wat is het?
De National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) is een oefenrechtbank voor het Europees Unierecht. Het vindt plaats in twee rondes: in de eerste ronde zullen teams deelnemen aan een oefenrechtbank georganiseerd door de lokale ELSA-groep van hun universiteit, waarvoor ze ook een geschreven stuk moeten inleveren. De winners van de lokale rondes kunnen dan doorgaan naar de tweede, nationale ronde, georganiseerd door ELSA Nederland. Hiermee krijgen de teams de kans om zich te meten met de winners van de andere lokale rondes.
De oefenrechtbank zal dit jaar over het EU-mededingingsrecht gaan.
Waarom meedoen?
Oefenrechtbanken zijn een fantastische manier om je juridische vaardigheden te ontwikkelen en het pleitproces te oefenen voor een panel met experts. De NMCC biedt je daarnaast de kans om andere rechtenstudenten uit heel Nederland te ontmoeten, om te netwerken met medestudenten en professionals, en om deel uit te maken van ELSA’s internationale gemeenschap. Bovendien geeft deze oefenrechtbank je ook de kans om je op een unieke manier voor te bereiden voor nog grotere oefenrechtbanken die op internationaal niveau worden georganiseerd.
Hoe doe ik mee?
Om mee te doen schrijf je je in via je lokale ELSA groep. Je kunt op onze website en de website van jouw lokale groep meer informatie vinden, en de bestuursleden van de lokale groepen zijn natuurlijk altijd beschikbaar zou je nog een vraag hebben.
